Exhibit Hall Sold-Out; Attendee Registration is Open at FunctionalFabricFair.com
NORWALK, Conn. (September 9, 2019) – The launch of Functional Fabric Fair Portland powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS®, Oct. 22-23 at the Oregon Convention Center, has met with tremendous industry response resulting in a sold-out exhibit hall of more than 130 suppliers of fabrics and accessories for outdoor, sportswear, workwear, sportive and athleisure apparel.
“We are especially pleased with the feedback from textile industry stakeholders who have reinforced the fall timing, the Portland destination and the market need for the curated sourcing platform of Functional Fabric Fair powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS®,” said Steve McCullough of Reed Exhibitions.
In addition to the showcase of the newest textiles and accessories for the winter 2021 season, the West Coast edition of the fair features the PERFORMANCE FORUM, the Expert Talks series of education sessions, and professional networking and matchmaking programs. The PERFORMANCE FORUM, exclusive to Functional Fabric Fair and PERFORMANCE DAYS®, displays the best exhibitor textile and accessory innovations, as selected by an independent jury of fabric experts. The fair is open to verified designers, product, purchasing or material managers, who may register free of charge at FunctionalFabricFair.com.
“Portland has been a wonderful host city and closely aligns with our sustainability focus for Functional Fabric Fair powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS® events,” said McCullough. “The fiber of Portland is eco-friendly with widespread efforts to go carbon-free, recycle at every turn and source local ingredients. On top of that, Portland is the headquarters for top outdoor and sportswear brands who value the green attitude of the community, cultural attractions and spectacular outdoor recreational spaces.”
In special recognition to the host city, the event Happy Hour, sponsored by drirelease, will feature locally brewed beer and regional wines and take place from 5 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the exhibit hall.
“We are thrilled to host the Functional Fabric Fair powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS® in our city,” said Sissy Lawty, Senior Convention Services Manager at Travel Portland. “Portland is a city of entrepreneurs with a strong culture of makers and innovators dating back for generations. Some of those original companies have become global industry leaders in fabric and textiles so it is wonderful to bring in other thought leaders in the field here. Likewise, Portland is a craft city so we know the attendees will appreciate getting a taste of our destination during their visit as well.”
Functional Fabric Fair Portland powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS® is produced in partnership by Reed Exhibitions and Design & Development GmbH Textile Consult (Germany), and in collaboration with Concept III Textiles. The West Coast edition follows Functional Fabric Fair New York powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS®, in July, which doubled in size from its 2018 launch and hosted 1,866 apparel industry professionals from 22 countries in the sold-out River Pavilion of the Javits Center in New York.
Event organizers are committed to minimizing the fair carbon footprint. All exhibits are constructed of bio-degradable, recycled and reusable materials. Each supplier is carefully vetted to meet social and environmental certifications such as Bluesign to ensure responsibly manufactured products. The Oregon Convention Center, a LEED Platinum Certified facility, is the most sustainable meeting center in America.
